Ilya Dolgushin (born 1947)

Ilya Dolgushin, in full Ilya Ilyich Dolgushin (born 1947), Professor, Doctor of Sciences in Medical Sciences, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Academician of the Russian Medico-Technical Academy, Honored Worker of Science, Head of the Department of Microbiology, Virology, Immunology and Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Rector/Head of the Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy, Deputy Chairman of Academic Commission on Teaching microbiology, virology, immunology, Chairman of Chelyabinsk Society for Microbiology, Epidemiology and Parasitology, chairman of the Rectors Council of medical and pharmaceutical universities of the Russian Federation, a member of the Rectors Council of the Chelyabinsk region; the author of 22 patents.

His research activity focuses on infectious immunology, mechanisms of neutrophil participation in antibacterial defense, and in interactions with other blood cells. Professor Dolgushin carried out fundamental research in immunology of burn and traumatic diseases. He was the first to establish universal laws and mechanisms of immune deficiency after traumatic injuries of various origins, and to propose new and original approaches to immunotherapy in trauma.
