Igor Dibobes, in full Igor Klementyevich Dibobes (1937-2015), Doctor of Sciences in Medical Sciences, State Prize winner, director of the URCRM (1958–1967). He deserves much of the credit for the establishment of the URCRM as a research institution. Under his leadership and with his direct involvement the regularities of biologically hazardous uranium fission products behavior, primarily 90-Sr, in various environmental media and regularities of trophic chain and human dietary intake contamination in the East Ural Radioactive Trace (EURT) were studied.
Regularities of radioactive substances migration in various landscapes were investigated, effective schemes for agricultural industry were developed. Under his guidance recommendations on protective measures in EURT were prepared, and their implementation was controlled; recommendations on the establishment of sanitary protection zone with a special regime on certain part of EURT were introduced; recommendations on natural grasslands and pastures soil decontamination were suggested, radiological laboratory in Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk Oblasts were formed.
